Known for its inclusive ethos, boundary-pushing aesthetics, and political edge, Riposte London sits at the intersection of queer rave culture, DIY art scenes, and club activism.

Methodology:

I used a 35mm and 55mm 1.6 anamorphic lens to give the footage a look that’s unique for social media. The Flares and cinematic crop gave a professional and professionally put together feel.

Why I love anamorphic:

Club settings are typically a nightmare to shoot. Some of the best scene photographers I know typically shoot on ultra wide spherical lenses to try and capture as much of the action as possible. but limitations of wide angle spherical lenses are obvious, they lead to unflattering and heavy distortion, and the frames often have loads of dead space. Anamorphic solves a lot of these issues, and gives you a cinematic frame.

Most performers I know typically want shots of them and the crowd together, showing off packed rooms and moving bodies.

The Results:

The post had high retention and engagement amongst followers, it was reposted by the performers and had a much more positive response than similar posts.
